dreamlands (poem)
i see ghosts when i close my eyes.
i see ghosts when
i close my eyes.
what else do you call
the memory of something
that never existed?
i think i am a revisionist
rather than a realist
(i think that’s also
called a liar).
they say rome
wasn’t built
in a day,
but i construct
alternate realities
every night.
in one of them
i was happy.
in one of them
i wasn’t alive.
they don’t have
to be separate.
they rarely ever are.

Great wayto talk about how memory and imagination blur together. The line about being a revisionist feels both self-aware and brave. It captures how our inner worlds can hold joy and disappearance at the same time.
This is just so precious
