i am an / open wound / in blood-soaked ballet flats / lost in the / hedge maze / of my mind / sometimes, i sing / in the shower / my arias / lavender honey sweet / sometimes, i stare / down the drain / searching for meaning in / clumps of hair / everything is a / metaphor / for something / else / if you wish it / hard enough / i saw my / silhouette / dancing / without me / a shadow-creature / on my bedroom wall / i felt my / blood / congeal into / stone / a weight / pulling me down / while my faceless self / pirouetted higher & / higher / it seems i am / circling a narrative / i can’t climb into / it seems i am / falling into a grave / i can’t crawl out of / i am sticky in / theory only / ghostlike in / practice / i am slipping through the cracks / of my own self / into the ceiling vent / i can see this through / to its ending / but for the life of me / cannot find / the starting line
