mythic zine (issue #1)
the hymns for all ends sound the same.
It’s my 29th birthday! Enjoy a small gift from me to you.
I’ve spent a good while now telling myself I am going to create a zine for my poetry. I keep putting it off because I want it to be perfectly curated and created (despite being terrible at graphic design and other artistic mediums). I finally said fuck that and decided to just make something without worrying about whether it’s perfect or amazing or even good. So I opened up Canva, played around a little bit, and created a mid-to-low average but acceptable eight-page PDF for your enjoyment! I know, I’m really selling it here, but I feel like I need to really emphasize that I did my best and that is enough.
It turned out a little bit different than I originally planned. For one, instead of featuring full-length poems, I wanted to keep it short and sweet with snippets from my poetry that I’m really proud of. To me, this zine is just a sampler of my writing (which is all readily and freely available on my substack). Two, as far as art, I can’t create anything visually stimulating like so many other people seem able to do, so all of the art I used used is Open Access from The Art Institute of Chicago.
You can download the PDF on my ko-fi (default price is free) if you’re a physical zine person or you can just enjoy it here as is.
